SIMATIC HMI TP1500 Comfort 15-inch Touch Panel 1280×800 PROFINET and PROFIBUS (order number 6AV2124-0QC02-0AX1) is the 15-inch standard device of the Siemens SIMATIC HMI Comfort Panels — the largest Comfort panel that still fits a normal enclosure door. It gives you the same 1280 × 800 resolution as the 12-inch TP1200 on a 61 % larger display area, with 24 MB of configuration memory, WEC 2013, engineering from WinCC Comfort V14 SP1 with HSP, and both PROFINET and MPI/PROFIBUS DP on board. Siemens lists it under PM400 phase-out — the whole Comfort family shares that status now — with the Unified Comfort panel 6AV2128-3QB06-0AX1 as successor.

The SIMATIC HMI TP1500 Comfort 15-inch Touch Panel 1280×800 PROFINET and PROFIBUS is the 15-inch standard device of the SIMATIC HMI Comfort Panels — the top of the cut-out-mounted range. It keeps the Comfort architecture (X86 platform, 24 MB of user memory, two SD card slots, PROFINET with an integrated switch plus a separate MPI/PROFIBUS DP port) and puts it on the largest screen Siemens builds into a standard enclosure door. Above this size the panels become a different mechanical class.
This is the question engineers actually ask when they compare the 12-inch TP1200 Comfort with the TP1500, and the answer is not what most catalogue descriptions imply: both panels are 1280 × 800. The TP1500 does not add a single pixel. What it adds is area — 331.2 × 207 mm against 261.1 × 163.2 mm, which is about 61 % more display surface, and a pixel pitch of roughly 0.259 mm against 0.204 mm, so every element is about 27 % larger on the same project.
That is the whole buying argument, and it is worth stating plainly: choose the 15-inch when the operator stands further away, wears gloves, works in poor light, or when the screen must be read over a machine guard — not when the project needs more information on one screen. For more content the resolution has to change, and that means leaving this size class rather than moving up within it. Because the layout is the same 1280 × 800, an existing TP1200 project can be opened at the larger size without redesigning the screens; the objects simply get physically bigger.
The TP1500 sits on the updated Comfort platform: 24 MB of configuration memory instead of 12 MB, Windows Embedded Compact 2013 instead of Windows CE 6.0, and engineering from WinCC Comfort V14 SP1 with HSP rather than V11. If you are carrying a project over from a 7- or 9-inch panel, that is a real check point — the project has to be opened in a V14 SP1 or later TIA Portal with the HSP installed before it can be downloaded to this device. It also means 24 MB of recipe and archive headroom, with two SD card slots for everything that should not live in internal memory.
Unlike the pedestal-mounted Comfort PRO devices, this panel may be installed either landscape or portrait, and it may be inclined up to 35° without external ventilation. The temperature ceiling depends on the orientation: 0 – 50 °C vertical in this 0AX1 variant, and 0 – 40 °C at the maximum tilt angle. Fix the orientation before you finalise the cabinet layout, because the permissible ambient changes with it.
Siemens lists this order number under PM400 — phase-out announced, and for the 15- to 22-inch Comfort sizes that status has applied since 1 October 2024 — earlier than for the 4- to 12-inch panels, which followed on 31 January 2026. The panel remains orderable as a new part while stocks last, the ten-year spare-parts commitment is running, and Siemens provisionally schedules product cancellation (PM410) for December 2027. The successor is 6AV2128-3QB06-0AX1 (Unified Comfort, MTP1500), which is a different engineering platform — WinCC Unified, not WinCC Comfort — so the migration is a project rework, not a hardware swap.

This model exists under two order codes, and buyers regularly receive the second one without being told why. Siemens states the reason explicitly: to secure the long-term spare-parts supply, the 15-inch Comfort panel was revised and given a new article number, released for delivery from March 2023.

Two practical consequences. First, the difference is the ambient-temperature ceiling, nothing else — if your cabinet runs above 45 °C, the 0AX1 is the variant you need, and above 50 °C neither is suitable. Second, if your project is built in the TIA Portal, configure the device as 0AX1 regardless of which code is on the label; a 0AX2 unit accepts that configuration unchanged via PROFINET, PROFIBUS or USB file transfer (the Mini USB port is not used for project transfer). We can quote either code, so tell us the cabinet temperature and we will confirm which one is being supplied.

Same picture, bigger on the wall — and a cabinet door that has to grow by roughly 86 mm in width and 70 mm in height, plus a supply sized for twice the current. If the door cannot grow, the 12-inch panel shows exactly the same 1280 × 800 project at a smaller physical size.
Engineering requires the TIA Portal with WinCC Comfort V14 SP1 and the HSP. Comfort Panels are not configured with WinCC Basic (Basic Panels) and not with WinCC Unified (Unified Comfort Panels) — different engineering systems, so a project cannot be moved across without rework. Over PROFINET, MPI or PROFIBUS DP the panel couples to SIMATIC S7-1200, S7-1500 and S7-300/400 controllers, and Modbus TCP/IP plus EtherNet/IP cover third-party PLCs and drives. Mechanically, plan the 396 × 291 mm cut-out, the 73.2 mm recess depth, the clamping positions and a 24 V DC supply rated for 1.7 A — double what a 12-inch panel draws — before cutting the door. And because the whole Comfort family is now under PM400, confirm availability before locking the design and plan the WinCC Unified migration of the successor generation.
What is 6AV2124-0QC02-0AX1?
It is the SIMATIC HMI TP1500 Comfort 15-inch Touch Panel 1280×800 PROFINET and PROFIBUS — the 15-inch standard device of the SIMATIC HMI Comfort Panels, with a 15.4-inch widescreen TFT at 1280 × 800 pixels, analog-resistive touch operation, PROFINET plus MPI/PROFIBUS DP, 24 MB configuration memory, Windows Embedded Compact 2013, engineered with WinCC Comfort V14 SP1 with HSP.
Does the 15-inch panel show more than the 12-inch one?
No. Both are 1280 × 800. The TP1500 puts the same number of pixels on a display area that is about 61 % larger (331.2 × 207 mm versus 261.1 × 163.2 mm), so each pixel is roughly 27 % bigger. You gain legibility and touch-target size at a distance, not additional content. If you need more information on one screen, the resolution has to change, which means a different size class rather than a larger Comfort panel.
What is the difference between the 0AX1 and the 0AX2?
Only the ambient temperature range and the certificate set. The 0AX2 is a revised version released in March 2023 to secure the spare-parts supply; function, housing and installation dimensions are identical and it is spare-part compatible with the 0AX1. The 0AX1 is rated 0 – 50 °C vertically (55 °C restricted), the 0AX2 0 – 45 °C, aligned with the 19- to 22-inch Comfort panels. The 0AX2 additionally carries IECEx and ATEX approval.
I received a 0AX2 instead of a 0AX1 — is that a problem?
Not for the project. Configure the device in the TIA Portal as 6AV2124-0QC02-0AX1 — the 0AX2 is deliberately not a separate entry in the hardware catalogue — and the same configuration downloads to either unit via PROFINET, PROFIBUS or USB file transfer. The only thing to check is heat: if your enclosure runs between 45 °C and 50 °C, the 0AX2 variant is not rated for it and you need the 0AX1.
Is the TP1500 Comfort discontinued?
Not discontinued, but no longer actively marketed. Siemens lists it under PM400 — phase-out announced, and the 15- to 22-inch Comfort sizes have carried that status since 1 October 2024. It remains orderable as a new part while stocks last and the spare-parts commitment is running; Siemens provisionally schedules product cancellation (PM410) for December 2027. Successor: 6AV2128-3QB06-0AX1 (Unified Comfort).
What cut-out does it need?
A panel cut-out of 396 × 291 mm, with a front bezel of 415 × 310 mm and a recess depth of 73.2 mm. Verify the cut-out, depth and clamp positions against the current Siemens data sheet for your revision before machining the enclosure door — the 12-inch TP1200 uses a much smaller 310 × 221 mm cut-out and is not interchangeable mechanically.
Can it be mounted in portrait format?
Yes — portrait and landscape are both permitted on this panel. The permissible ambient temperature depends on the orientation and tilt: 0 – 50 °C vertically on the 0AX1, 0 – 40 °C at the maximum tilt angle of 35°. Check both against your cabinet before fixing the orientation.
Is the touch screen capacitive or resistive?
It is an analog-resistive touch screen, operable with gloves or a touch pen, with 40 direct keys that can be configured as S7 input I/O. Projected-capacitive multi-touch on a glass front belongs to the Unified Comfort and Comfort PRO lines, not to this standard Comfort panel.
Does it have physical function keys?
No — this is the pure touch version, with 0 function keys. If you need hardware keys in the same 15-inch format, the KP1500 Comfort (6AV2124-1QC02-…) is the keyed sibling; it is a separate order code and the screen layout differs, so choose the type before the HMI project is written.
How much configuration memory does it have?
24 MB — twice the 12 MB of the 7-, 9- and 12-inch Comfort panels — plus two SD card slots for archives, recipes and project storage.
Which software do I need to configure it?
The TIA Portal with WinCC Comfort V14 SP1 and the HSP, or higher. This is a step up from the V11 minimum of the 12-inch panel, so an older project must be opened in V14 SP1 or later with the HSP installed before download.
What power supply does it need?
24 V DC with a permissible range of 19.2 – 28.8 V DC. The rated current is 1.7 A and the typical power input is 41 W — roughly twice a 12-inch Comfort panel, so check the existing 24 V supply before swapping one for the other. Inrush current is given as I²t 0.5 A²s.
What is the operating temperature range?
0 °C to +50 °C in vertical mounting on this 0AX1 variant (55 °C with restrictions), and 0 °C to +40 °C at the maximum tilt angle of 35°. The revised 0AX2 variant is rated 0 – 45 °C vertically. Storage and transport −20 °C to +60 °C, relative humidity up to 90 % without condensation.
Can it talk to a legacy PROFIBUS network and a PROFINET line at the same time?
Yes. PROFINET is provided on two Industrial Ethernet ports with an integrated 2-port switch plus an independent port, and MPI/PROFIBUS DP has its own RS-422/485 interface — so no additional communication module or gateway is needed to serve both networks from one panel.
Is it suitable for washdown or outdoor use?
The front is IP65 (NEMA 4 / 4X) and the rear IP20, which is intended for installation inside an enclosure. It is not specified for outdoor, UV-exposed or wide-temperature installation — for those, the Outdoor Comfort variants are the correct choice.
What replaces it when the Comfort family ends?
Siemens names the Unified Comfort panel 6AV2128-3QB06-0AX1 (MTP1500) as the successor. It is mechanically a different device and it is engineered in WinCC Unified, so the HMI project has to be migrated rather than copied. Siemens provides the Data2Unified add-in and a Modernization Checker to support that conversion.
